Fan-fucking-tastic day.
Melynda and I woke up to get our hair cuts. We are now beautiful short haired women, and it was an absolutely lovely day. Gorgeous weather. Lunch at La Madeline, potato gallette and strawberries romanoff, and then to Metro for cards and coffee. Now we're watching Gosford Park.
And I have had so many damn good moments of conversation today.

we had a houseguest this weekend that was on her way to austin for a week ... she asked if there was anything not to miss and all i could think of were bluebonnets and restaurants! a couple fridays ago when my mother forced me to skip meat cause it's lent all i could think of were thundercloud subs avacodo sandwiches!!! of course, that would be a no go to, since i gave up avacados and pretend it was for lent :)
also amy's ice cream. i thought "i would like to be at the arboretum finishing my sandwich and planning my crushin/icecream." it is a miracle that i'm not 500 pounds! :)
Re:
The bluebonnets are very beautiful right now.

my b. was in texas this weekend and said he didn't get to see any bluebonnets but that his nana had seen some starting at least... she lives in north texas, so maybe that's why. he did take some texas dirt back to kansas with him though!

Re:
I've been meaning to ask you, are you a student of Professor Pichova's?

Have you studied with her?
Re:
Professor Pichova was one of the biggest influences on my life in the past three years, both in academia and in my personal life. She is a great professor and a good friend of mine. If you ever have the chance to take one of her courses, go for it.

I also attended a portion of the fall conference on Kundera's reception internationally, and found that quite interesting.
Re:
Ahhh Hrabal. She saved my life with Hrabal. Gave me a copy of I served the King of England and sent me home to read, and it really did work. She really just is an amazing teacher.
