I'm watching Autumn in New York which is not a great movie. But I rented it because it is New York, and because I saw it once on a date. It's my favorite kind of romantic movie, as there's death and a not so happy ending. It's more real to me this way. Slow motion misery, the doctor flinging his cap to the ground and the silent sob of a friend. The unplugging of the Christmas tree lights, and the present on the floor. Paper cranes, everywhere. Gere's character is such a bastard in truth. I honestly don't know why I liked this movie now. Well.

God I can't wait to be in New York.

That movie made me want to commit violent homicide against Richard Gere. And not for being a bastard. But because he's ugly when he cries.

Does that make me shallow?

No. It's quite alright. He's just a bit of a wanker, and definitely not the best actor in that movie. I finally figured out why I watched it though. I needed to remember what an idiotic girl I was at that point in my life, that I was the kind of person who found all that terribly romantic. And I feel much better, now that I'm not that girl anymore.
