Wired's September issue has an amazing article on The New Diamond Age, and the possibility that diamond semiconductor wafers might become an affordable reality. Not only that, but someone might finally lay the smack down on De Beers. Rock.

Should these diamonds hit the market, I think I'll cover my entire laptop with them.

It's such a fantastic thought! I'm really excited by both the technological implications of such a feat, and the possibility that De Beers will lose their stranglehold on the diamond market.
