Yesterday in the car I was talking about Warren Zevon, and how much respect I had for someone who just didn't lay down and die when the doctors told him he would. He kept working and living right up to the end. His was some of that strange, curious rock music I would find in my parent's collection of records and tapes and listen to in the living room by myself.

Late night last night. Our watching of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was interrupted by the White House shrub making one of the worst speeches I've heard lately. What happened to all those Reagan era writers? Did they get fired?

Ate lots of toast, played cards and the score is now 15-12 in my favor.

There's an urge to write, but I have no idea what or I would do something with it.

heh, if i remember right reagan was an actor so maybe he knew some good script writers for his speeches=) as for the shrub hmm i don't think the best writers in the world could make up for him. i liked crouching tiger hidden dragon with subtitles better; that dubbing was annoying me.

There's a lot to be said for being a decent public speaker. When did that stop being necessary for a president eh?

The Reagan speech writers were mad crazy with their rhetoric. I didn't agree with them, but they could pull some high flying stuff out of their hats.

I figure the writers are still around, but no matter how good your writers are, it does no good to have a beautifully written speech when the speaker can't read the words. ;)

This is true. What a shame. It makes me miss Clinton, for at least he could give a ripping good speech.

More than that, you've got to respect a president who actually bother's to write his *own* speeches as well...
