it's only rain she said

It rained for hours last night, steadily soaking the parking lot and the grassy verge by the building. We smoked at the far end of the front of the building, and it speckled out hands when we reached out.

The sky this morning is one of those impossibly blue shades, too beautiful to be real, and the clouds decorate most of it in greys and whites. It is more beautiful than anything I've seen in years.

Our wedding invitations arrived on Wednesday and I've only just picked them up. They are very beautiful, and it gives me a quiet thrill to read them.
"Amanda Kimberly and Alan Edward have chosen the first day of their new life together to be Decemeber fourteenth, two thousand and three..."

I spoke to my mother on the phone, and she told me how proud she was of me for making a choice and then putting everything together. There is a feeling that maybe things are different between us now, better than they have been in some time. It makes me happy.
