movies and rum

Went out today and considered things for the registry. Picked out a china pattern, called my grandmother, visited the bookstore, ate Chinese. We went out after dark to rent movies, Matrix Reloaded, Near Dark, Gosford Park and The Opposite of Sex. All rocking good films.
On the way home we stopped in our neighborhood liquor store. Lo and behold, laws have changed, and they now have Saturday night wine tastings. We drank lots of delicious South American Cabernet, and one of the guys raced home to get a new case so we could buy a bottle. The men who run the store are very sweet, of an indeterminate foreign origin, and they have excellent prices. I think we'll just start building a liquor cabinet.
Time to watch movies and drink rum, and curl up with my fiance.

Date: 2003-10-19 08:28 am (UTC)/me wishes i could run down to texas and fete you! :)
i find the liquor store to be a really fascinating place.... so many pretty bottles ! usually i'm running in for cooking purposes and i never can leave in under 30 minutes. it's silly. yesterday i spent about 4 minutes starring at a blue gin from france thinking "this would be a perfect engagement gift for m & j" and another 5 starring at "hypnotique" wondering how to excuse it's purchase.
after that i ran quickly to the cash register with my pseudo-port that i needed for dinner tonight :)

Date: 2003-10-19 10:15 am (UTC)I always want to buy something weird or ridiculous in the liquor store! Like the stuff for sloe gin fizzes or something. I think we're going to start cooking more with wine and stuff just to have an excuse to go back.
