Last night's party was smashing. Bonfire in the trash can, kegs of beer, a stage built half out of old highway signs, Christmas lights, friends, good times, bright sky. There was good conversation, the renewal of friendships and lots of laughter. So we hugged, and laughed, made phone calls, cursed K-State and OU, and celebrated.

Every now and then Nick would randomly start shouting "Back that ass up!" Gene kept the drunk girl from catching on fire. James practiced his Reverend Jimmey speaking hood in an old English accent. Sam got drunk and fell into the fence. Al brought us scrap wood to chunk in the fire. Matt got accepted into fire academy for January.

We missed Melynda. A lot.

We stayed late, and fell asleep pretty fast. The morning was lazy. Our ceiling is still leaking and I'm furious about it.

Went to eat at Threadgill's with Gene. As luck would have it, Justin was working and comped about half our meal. Fabulous food as ever, and we stuffed ourselves. Hanging out watching King of the Hill now with Gene and drinking rum.

And as much as Gene kept drunk girl from falling into the fire, and as much as Gene took drunk girl home, sadly Gene did not go home with drunk girl.
