bring me the potato

Rach will be here soon, and that will be good. She said the bus trip had been smooth so far, and I am relieved. Being the worrywart, I imagined the worst. My one and only Greyhound trip was not a happy one, given it was after we ran away from a shooting at a pool hall and I wanted to get back to Austin. Normally driving from Houston to Austin takes between 2 and 3 hours, depending on how much you speed. I think the bus trip took at least 4, nearly 5 and it was miserable. Bus stops in tiny towns are depressing.

Anyhow, work is miserably slow. The PA plays a normal song, and then a Christmas carol, over and over and over. I'm not so keen on most poppy Christmas music.

My raspberry pie is a smashing success. My house is almost clean. My wedding dress is mostly not wrinkled. I have no idea where my $30 strapless bra went. It's cold and windy outside. I need to write the last bits of our wedding ceremony, as we're meeting with James on Thursday to deal with that.I want a potato landscape from Magnolia.

If you've never had the pleasure of eating at Magnolia Cafe in Austin, the Potato Landscapes are the most sublime and excellent potato dish in town. My personal favorite is the Neptune Landscape. It is a dish of home fries, swathed in melted white cheese, green onions, avocado, sour cream and salsa verde. It also has the distinction of being one of the cheapest things on the menu.

Must take Rach to Magnolia.

Oh my goodness, I haven't really been reading lately. So your big day is coming up in short order. Congratulations!!!

The one time I rode Greyhound, I encountered one of the scarier people I've seen in my life, who woke up shouting from an erotic dream he'd been having and had to be reminded by the busdriver, "Woah! Hey! Buddy, you're in public."

So I'm glad your friend is having a good trip.

Sooner than we imagined! Thank you muchly.

Yikes. The joys of public transport. I saw a guy getting a blow job on the subway once in Paris. I did a double take and stared most impolitely.
