There's water pouring out of various pieces of our kitchen ceiling and cabinets now. Apparently a side effect of fixing the boiler on top of the building? I don't know, but I'm fucking furious. What if we had been working tonight?
edit
If we had been working, we would have ended up almost as bad as the people upstairs. Thier kitchen was well flooded. Managed to contain water in ours with many glasses and pyrex pans. Stupid Aggie engineer who put the boiler on the roof. (Must have been an Aggie)

The place my parents still live in flooded severely when I was a kid, and water damage just gives me the hives. I hope you're documenting all of this, I'm not sure for what reason, but you never know.

The office has many a record of our complaints.

Ouch.
I know--from experience, unfortunately--just what you've gone through. One weekend several years ago, something went wrong with the water-heater overflow in the apartment above mine.
The problem was that the apartment above mine was unoccupied. It took me the better part of four hours before the complex maintenance people got there, and I was right pissed. If it hadn't bgeen 6am when it happened, or it hadn't been the weekend, it would have been way worse...
As it was, I got a measly half-month's-rent refund and had to put up with several industrial blowers going non-stop in my apartment for two days.
I'll tell you, the cat was real pleased too.
I'm glad you were home and at least moderately able to contain things.
But I am sorry for the experience.
