Well. What a change, a peachy day! Lovely weather, good food, amusing conversation, and good luck. Ha! Take that Twilight Zone.

We've been approved for the apartment, a huge relief. I think I will start cleaning and packing certain things this weekend. One more month. Also, the post office finally found my certified letter they lost, and I picked it up this morning. Exactly 31 days after I mailed it. Gracious. Damn post office. I'm nervous to mail anything.

I ate the most delicious almond cake this afternoon in Metro. Oh, full of almond slices and dusted with powdered sugar, it was fabulous. Mmm, a perfect treat with my coffee. I was sorely tempted by the chocolate hazelnut biscotti. Geoff and Deb are coming by for dinner tonight.

So many sirens today. I hear them in every class, and twice while at Metro. What is this? It just makes me feel strange. Since I read the Novak book I have been paying more attention to the strangeness of American daily life. Now I think I will run out into the last of the daylight....

strange. no sirens penetrated my insulated, absorbed world today.

I'm not sure what it is. But every day this week, I've heard at least one siren during Czech, if not several during the day. It's just odd.

I hope they find the package my mom mailed me. Unfortunatly ours was not certified or insured. URGH!! They have been totally crazy lately, things take twice as long, get lost, etc. I wonder what's going on with the USPS???

hope you get your package soon

They put forklifts through everything. Seriously. I have now heard two stories from friends who special ordered giant computer monitors, and had either UPS or USPS put a forklift right through the package. I wonder what kind of noice that makes.

grrr .. it's so frustrating. I mean as a younger person, I put so much trust in the USPS ... now? I don't know. I mean how could they just totally loose a package? It just seems very sinister.
