(no subject)

I swear, if anything else wakes me up before noon tomorrow, I'm going to kill it. In the last three days I've had phone calls, obnoxious children and workmen shock me out of sleep. What good does my weekend do me if I can't sleep in? Once I'm up it's nigh impossible to go back to any useful kind of sleep.

I said I was sorry!

I know. It's okay. I just need to remember to turn my phone off.

When I used to work the night shift, the apartment yard crew was notorious for showing up about 9AM with all of the loud equipment right outside my bedroom window. It was very less.

Very, very less. Clearly I need a flame thrower.

I thought you already had one....

greets, it's Bryan from the good ole PcOrder days...trolling through LJ and look who I find? I should have figured that I knew more people out here from Austin.

Hahaha, no I have the AK47. Still in need of the flame thrower. ;)

How on earth are you?

[identity profile] gwrhyr.livejournal.com 2004-02-25 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
just remember that it is never wise to hide your ammo in a baking loaf of bread...

I doing good for the moment...It seems that my 3+ year on stable employment just came to a screeching halt. It sucks, of many reasons, sincemy pension would be fully vested in only 1 year and 9 months. so close but never enough, it seems...

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2004-02-25 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh sucktacular. Man. I swore I would never take another tech industry job again after PcO. I'll keep my eyes open for anything at First American though for you.

[identity profile] gwrhyr.livejournal.com 2004-02-25 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
much appreciated. I am trying to find something ASAP so I can get as much of a double income as possible over the next 60 days. None of us are really getting a straight deal on our severance, but I guess few do...

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2004-02-25 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Kinda like when you were getting double at the end of your time at PcO? ;) You know, I tell people about that often when we bitch about jobs.

[identity profile] gwrhyr.livejournal.com 2004-02-25 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
hey now, that was entirely voluntary on my part...and well planned I have to say...the best was sitting down to watch web-cam girls while chugging some beers at the office on my last day.

This time around I am forced into finding a way to make this advantageous. I am also caught a little off guard be the recent announcement itself.

It's odd when customers and other divisions hear what happened and all ask the same brow-furrowed question: "Why would they want to do that?"

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2004-02-25 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, that's what makes it such a great story!

I nearly had a heart attack a couple months ago when FAFDS announced they were opening an India office to handle overflow. I still have nightmares.

all I can say is watch the news regarding your company. Outsourcing can be seen as preliminary sign that they are likely to stream line operations locally.

bye bye american jobs....

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2004-02-25 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
True. Though we did just buy TransAmerica's flood operation, and they shut down their NJ office. So we're pulling all their work in now. But then, who knows?
