Apr. 17th, 2004 07:32 pmThis weekend is about not leaving the house for anything I was supposed to be doing. The only exception being Hell Boy, which is excellent Saturday afternoon popcorn entertainment. The sidekick villains are much scarier than Rasputin, incidentally. The whole film is saturated with color, and was quite enjoyable. Ron Perlman is highly underrated, and needs to be cast in more films. Not as pretty boy as George Clooney and a much more believable bad ass, especially when big guns are involved.
Alan has been cooking since we got home, carmel, zing more than 5lbs of onions in the giant wok and creating a delicious beef stock. If I can stay awake for more than an hour at a stretch, I'll have some French Onion soup for dinner.

Date: 2004-04-17 07:20 pm (UTC)One thing I really liked about the film that also came across well in The Rundown is that although there is a romantic subplot or suggestion thereof it doesn't leap up and take over things. I don't want to see people making out and then blowing monsters away, I want some snappy dialogue, big guns, longing glances and then s&*% blowing up. If I wanted to see slobbering lips I would watch a different type of movie.
Ekatarina, who loved Hellboy and admires many of the actors in it but still thinks that Selma Blair looked a lot like Adrienne Curry, the first "America's Next Top Model" winner of season one.
And I'm not ashamed I know that. The "formerly fat" chick won season two.
