I think my lower left wisdom tooth is finally pushing its way past the gum. The pain woke me up, and I spent half an hour laying in the dark contemplating jabbing needles into my mouth. I had some Ambesol leftover, so now the left side of my mouth is pleasantly numb. What's a little drooling compared to the absense of pain?

My upper wisdom teeth forced their way during my summer in Prague. Every now and then they would ache, but I think this lower one is worse. A tighter fit, perhaps. Without dental insurance, I didn't have a way to get them cut out of my head when I was younger. Not to mention my fear of surgery, anesthesia and unconsciousness. We still don't actually have dental insurance, just some kind of discount program. That isn't going to help us if we have serious bills.

So I'm up for the day. It's not even 8am. I'd leave the house but I hate driving in wet weather.

most of my friends got their wisdom teeth yanked as part of an investigational test regardin pain meds.

they made good money too, but you had to do a lil suffering if you got the placebo.

If I have to take them out, I'll probably do that. Honestly I would rather suffer for a week than face the specter of debt and large bills. Hah.

IF you get it removed, it is perfectly possible to stay awake for it. I did mine just with septcaine (which is the industrial novicaine they have to use on me, because novocaine doesn't work). It was remarkably not a big deal.

Tyler told me horrifying stories about being awake at lunch. :( I'm going to pray it just evens out like the top ones and I don't need anything done.

I've got some bad stories, as you know, but truly, my wisdom teeth were easy -- I went to work after and everything.

I'm not sure I'll get a choice on the matter, as I'll have to do one of those clinical medication trials if I have them taken out.

Mm.... you should ask though, it's becoming an increasingly standard thing. Also, there's the local dental college option, which generally has very low rates and very up to date equipment.

I had mine cut out in high school. The experience was very less, but it was worth it. Since they were impacted, they were pushing all my teeth together so I had to get braces to fix them.

Ouch! I am lucky my teeth are pretty dang straight. There's a tiny gapy between the lower two front ones, so maybe I'll get lucky and my wisdom teeth will only push them together. ;)
