I had my first 'real' meal today, and it felt so good to have non-liquid food. We ate outside at a little seafood restaraunt to enjoy the absolutely gorgeous sun and breeze. My shrimp and oysters thankfully required only a minimal amount of chewing.

A large grackel hopped up on the table next to us and made off with a wrapped packet of saltines. I wonder if the bird managed to get the plastic open.

When I woke up this morning, I was full of energy. We've done three loads of laundry, cleaned up the living room, vacuumed and I've started the process of thinning my bookshelves. There are a lot of tattered paperbacks that must finally be let go, and a number of books I just won't ever read again. I want to clean everything up and organize the remaining books. I have to make room for the new books I've recieved lately too!

My Education, by William S Burroughs (hardback)
Word Virus (sans cd), by William S Burroughs (hardback)
The Complete Short Stories of Ambrose Bierce (trade ed)
Tomato Red, by Daniel Woodrell (hardback)
Youth, Heart of Darkness & Typhoon (Modern Library ed.), by Joseph Conrad (hardback)
The Republic of Dreams, by Garfield Crimmins (hardback)
Diary of a Drug Fiend, by Aleister Crowley (trade ed)
Mr. Wroe's Virgins, by Jane Rogers (trade ed)
The Year of the Frog, by Martin Simecka (hardback)
Almost No Memory, by Lydia Davis (hardback)
On the Road, by Jack Kerouac (trade ed)
The Dharma Bums, by Jack Kerouac (trade ed)

They're interesting books, but I probably won't read them again. I've grown out of my Beats phase anyhow. I would like to send these books to someone who would enjoy them or have a use for them. So if you want to trade scarves, earrings, European chocolate. coffee or something for them, I'm game. Comment or send me an email at tsarina at livejournal dot com. For anyone in town, we could meet at Metro.

Later on, I will type up my letter of complaint to the state board that license dentists.

Dibs on the books! I will have to find a place for all my stuff anyhow and books are always welcome at my place.

Hee, that was fast. I will tell you the story of where each book came from too.
Mind if I give the Bierce collection to Kit?

Not at all. I couldn't deny sweet Kit anything. : )

And I love Ambrose Bierce and have a lot of his stuff already. And please give the Crowley away too...I don't want to be greedy! ; )

If [livejournal.com profile] catelin doesn't want it, I would love the Ambrose Bierce collection. I can probably trade you coupons for new books from Half Price if you want, or something else, I dunno what ...

I don't think she would mind if I saved that one for you. Are you still growing herbs in your little window garden? I'd trade the book for a little fresh basil or something for the kitchen. :)

Yeah. I have oregano and rosemary now -- lots of them -- and if you wait a little while I will have tomatoes and hot peppers too. :)

Excellent! Alan's all about the peppers and the rosemary. Let me know when you have a few spare peppers and we'll swap stuff.

I have lots of little hot peppers for you now if you still have that Ambrose Bierce collection. Still fancy a trade?

looks like i'm too late but i'd trade something for that Crowley book if the person taking them isn't particularly interested in it.

i got a variety of books which could be offered in its place

Cate says you can have the Crowley if you like. :)
I have never even cracked it open, so it's in good shape.

never even cracked it open? blasphemy!

that's easily the best book he wrote as far as practical advice to the masses. it should be required reading at all rehab clinics. especially good for today's addiction-riddled society

you want anything in particular for it? i have russian language dictionaries among other things

It's one of those books an ex of mine really wanted me to read, and so has suffered from the association. Better to give it to someone who will like it eh?

You can never have too many dictionaries. I could always use more Slavic stuff to practice with.

I'm glad you are finally feeling better! Sorry to miss out on the books, but I'm glad you can give them to someone without shipping them.

Thank you, me too. I missed chewing.

Funny how the first people to ask were right here in town. Though I may put up another batch in the next month as I do more cleaning. I'm trying to reduce the amount of clutter in our home. So hard for geeks with books.
