I'm watching Sixty Minutes and they just ran a video shot by a soldier working at Camp Bucca in Iraq. She was young, and had a southern accent, joined the military to pay for college. It was like something from another world.
But I find it easy to understand how the familiarity could breed contempt. It's scary.
