few things

Few things could improve this day. The power going out all over North Austin and shutting my office down would help but I don't think I will get that lucky again. Work is grueling, and I'm frustrated beyond belief. Every time a dispute comes back on my work, I am filled with rage and despair. I am starting to sound like some bratty fourteen year old girl who would run a community devoted to Nirvana and Foo Fighters slash. And yes, I saw that community today.

(I'm not weirded out so much by the slash, but by the fact that so many of these Nirvana fans were babies and kindergarteners when Nirvana was huge. I am so old.)

It's grey and dark outside. A few hours ago I saw a ray of sunlight, and the gloom has lightened up somewhat. But all I can think about is when I can leave.

are you looking for a new job? you don't seem to be too happy with yours

I'm considering it... I have a lead on something that probably wouldn't happen til next year, so maybe I will tough it out. I'm not sure. Right now Alan is actively looking at going back to his former line of work, so I'm going to stick with this until we can get health insurance somewhere else. The insurance keeps me more than the money really.

what is slash?

Slash is fiction about two people of the same sex getting it on, anyone from movie characters to rock stars.Comes from early fiction written by fans of Star Trek, and when they went to categorize their stories they would list the pairing as Kirk/Spock or whatever. The slash mark became slang for the whole genre.

Hee the shirt and ice cream. Happy thoughts.

It really is. If you go trolling round the net you can find slash on damn near anything. Even the Bible.

I did enjoy the shirt post. :D

To be fair, I was barely in my teens when Cobain died and a great deal of my exposure to the Seattle music scene came from much older friends. So I'm a little young for a Nirvana fan but still. Now I know how my mom feels when she sees people in Doors tshirts.
