I'm completely livid.

James told me that Metro got busted by some namby pamby Health Inspection for allowing smoking. I have no idea what they will do. Given the cost of rent, electricity and the fact that their business caters towards people who want to smoke inside... They can't afford to lose their customers and they will lose a lot of people.

God damn fucking invasive government! Fucking people who feel the need to impose their standards of culture and decide which ways I can enjoy or harm myself. I don't fucking need to be protected from myself, thank you very much. In a city where there are so many places to go, you can make a fucking choice as to where you want to drink your coffee and if you want to have a cigarette with it. The damned goverment doesn't need to be invading my private life by forbidding me to do a perfectly legal thing with my damned coffee. If you don't like it go somewhere the fuck else. You made your choice to be a nonsmoker. I made my choice to be a smoker.

I heard about the smoking law passing, but I didn't even think of Metro.

God, this infuriates me. The whole reason I bought a lap top was so that I could to Metro and work and smoke. Motherfucking bastards trying to tell me what I can and cannot do with my lungs. If they don't want to be there, why the hell don't they go to Mozart's or something?

I know. It's not like there aren't a million other coffee shops in this city that don't allow smoking. If you don't want to smoke with your coffee, go to fucking Starbucks.

God, this ordinance is such a laugh. The anti-smoking people were bitching because of the bars and it doesn't even fucking affect the bars. So why punish those of who enjoy caffeine and nicotine. Let me have my addictions. At least it's not crack. Or kiddie porn.

Leave it up to the business owner and regulate through business. If you don't like that a place allows smoking, don't go there. Simple.

Hello free market!!! I'm angry that Metro can't run their business as they see fit and serve the client base they desire. Clearly, they desire the smoking all night college crowd, hence the location and the hours. There's a half dozen other places people can go if they don't want to smoke.

It does suck, believe me, I know. Want to know what else sucks? That we then get busted by the cops for having the smokers congregating outside and pissing the neighbors off. ARGH!!!!
