I haven't been writing a lot here, though so much is going on right now. Not a lot that I want to type about at the moment though.

Patrick and I did have an American consumer odyssey yesterday. From Barnes and Noble to Amy's to the dreaded mall to the much more friendly grocery store to Kerbey Lane. I now possess two kinds of incense, a bottle of wine, some chocolate, 10lbs of oranges, new soaps and a new book.

Blue Angel by Francine Prose. From the back of the book: It's been years since Swenson, a professor in a New England creative writing program has published a novel. It's been even longer since any of his students have shown promise. Enter Angela Argo, a pierced, tattooed student with arare talent for writing. Angela is just the thing Swenson needs. And better yet, she wants his help. But, as we all know, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.... Deliciously risque, Blue Angel is a withering take on today's academic mores and a scathing tale that vividly shows what can happen when academic politics collides with political correctness.

I've wanted to read it since it was published last year. I don't feel that I read enough current American fiction to have any idea of what the landscape is like out there. Just flipping through the stack of new hardbacks yesterday I found half dozen books I wanted to take home. *sigh* I wish they were not quite so much, or that I could afford to buy them.

It was nice enough to go swimming this afternoon after Mass. The water was not so icy either this time. Read a few Czech stories by the pool and drank ginger ale. I do not have warrior priests. I have gardener priests. The flowers grow taller and wilder every week. Thursday we move back into the sanctuary, and it seems all of the renovations and additions are complete. I am looking forward to watching the baptisms at the Easter Vigil on Saturday. A year ago that was me. I should clean the apartment some and try to box away a few things. Perhaps pack some books. I move in eleven days.

I just finished Blue Angel last week. It is good. Very good. Except the ending. It was kind of an easy way out ending. In my opinion.

You must try half.com for all your book needs. It is addicting though. I personally don't care if my books are used, and if you're the same you'll like this. They have many books for cheap. I just got Anil's Ghost for 2.50, as opposed to 22.50.

*feels bad and guiltily looks at envelope adressed to Tsarina* If I send this tomorrow will you get it? Or should I wait and send it when you are moved to you new place? (If it makes you feel better my brother and friend's birthday presents are a week late getting to the post)

Congrats on you first Catholic year! Gardener priests eh? Almost as delightful as magician priests. Maybe we can work an exchange of these, along with our accented peoples and culinary treats exchanges?

I think if you send it tomorrow it should make it to me. I'll be out of this place on the 21st, and I'm oging to have my mail forwarded. So,it should make it to me somehow.

Must go to half.com now. Mmmm. Cheap books. Used books. Ahh.

I'm a library troll. Only trouble is, I have no recollection of what I've read. The other day I thought of something tremendous I read last year, and now I can't remember what I was remembering the other day, much less the memory of last year. If I owned what I read, I could paw through boxes until I found what I don't remember reading...

Mmm. Library. I live near the branch library I scoured as a kid. I would check out a dozen books at a time, and the librarian would glare at me. "Are you going to read all that?" she would ask. "Of course," I always rudely replied. Heh. Oh thank god for libraries. They certainly expanded my little world.
