FDA Panel Backs Implant To Counter Depression - I am incredibly wary of this thing, especially given the flimsy data they put forth! It's all well and good to know it is working just fine for epilepsy, but to sanction it for treating a mental illness? Ugh. No thank you. I'll live with whatever madness comes my way and it will be a cold day in hell before I let anyone implant a device to regulate my mood.

That is just frightful. I could almost see the use of such of a device if there was a shred of scientific evidence supporting it, but the firm admits that the improvement is "not statistically significant". Besides, there are probably other ways to stimulate the vagus nerve that do not involve implanted electroshock.

A girl in my group attempted suicide just yesterday; I don't think a chip in her head would have made a difference.

It would be one thing if they could make a strong case for improvement. But their stats sound off, and their unwillingness to run another trial? A bad sign in my eyes.

*doop de doop de doo*

Look at that. Almost time to vote. Good thing my implant is working so I can go do my civic duty.

Later that day, at the polls...

I think I'll vote for that John Kerry. He seems like a right nice fellow.

*ZZZZZAAAAAPPPPP!*

I love the GOP. Four more years! Four more years! A vote for Bush is a vote for America.
