I love watching gymnastics, especially the men's events. My motivations are not as perverted as they might seem at first glance. I did some gymnastics, and my mom has a couple ribbons I earned when I was a small child and I could do backwards somersaults on the balance beam without a twitch. Odd, that the balance beam was my forte when I am so less graceful now. But I watched the gynmasts in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, and loved them. I had a Mary Lou Retton leotard, which I wore often. I've always liked the Olympics, mostly because they seemed to be such a wonderous thing. Hundreds of people attempting to stretch the capacities of the human body, and not to be paid for it but for the joy of the accomplishment. While my older self aknowledges a certain cynicism about athletes in general, I like to hold an idealized image of Olympic athletes in my head. It should be said as well that I've long had a crush on Aleksei Nemov, the Russian gymnast. He makes it look so easy, especially his floor routine.

I like watching the men's gymnastics too. And my motivations are somewhat perverted :-)
