You don't have to say anything. In fact, don't say anything to me. Go out and say something to the people who think it's okay to treat others like shit, to the people who think rape stats are inflated, and to the people who think we just have it coming. For god's sake say something to people like me so they don't have to live with years of silence and fear and shame.

Sometimes in my life, the question is: Who hasn't been sexually violated - at least - what woman hasn't? I know there are plenty of women who haven't been, but out of the women I know, including myself, the violated (either in childhood or adulthood) are the majority. Thankfully, we are strong and we are survivors. Even if the incident(s) changed us unalterably, we continue on.

It is especially disturbing that for people of our generation the proportion of survivors is even higher than the stats.
