This is the sort of day where I am glad I live in Texas, in her hills and under her moody skies. It's been raining for a week straight, but this afternoon the sun returned. The entire sky was still full of clouds, shading from white to blue and down to gray. Along their ragged and curling edges the sun burst forth in pale golden light. The air moved over my face, cool and clean. I drove up onto a bridge in the sky listening to Yoko Kanno's "Inner Universe" and I felt as if something inside my chest would break and spill forth from the most impossibly beautiful and fragile moment.

We ate dinner at Quality Seafood tonight, and one of the owners explained how to make turbot with stuffed crab. So I have leftover fried oysters and fresh fish to cook tomorrow.

One of my coworkers was fired today for doing something so amazingly stupid I can't even describe it.

My not so bright coworker found out the password of a lead, a sort of midlevel supervisor. They have to sign off on certain pieces of work, and he used the password to sign his own work for who knows how long. Apparently he made the mistake of using the password and signing work on a day the lead was absent, and the higher ups were tipped off when they looked at the daily reports. I think the Systems folk might have known about it weeks ago, based on something I overhead awhile back when they came down to fix the computer next to me.

Insurance company continues to be stupid, but we beat the authorization out of them and got the appointment taken care of today. Woo.
