I'm getting sick. Why? Because some people are stupid and come to work with colds and other illnesses. Not only does it set a bad precendent, it gets everyone else sick. Half my group is out today, thanks to our Typhoid Laurie. Hurrah!

I'm so angry about it. It's incredibly thoughtless and irresponsible behaviour to bring your contagious ass into work. Stay the hell home. Now everyone's sick and we're slammed with work. The worst part is she's proud of herself.

it's a 2-sided issue. on one hand, there's social pressure to not bring in a disease that can infect everyone. on the other hand, there is management pressure not to be a whiner and stay home with every sniffle. since a cold can last a week, who can take a week off every time they get a cold? i dunno. i can see both sides, as usual.

as for me, i'm doomed regardless. my kids go to school, so they bring everything home anyway.

Well this is a person with lots of medical issues. I just wish she had taken a day or two off when she was most contagious. She could barely stay upright, she was clearly not well enough to be working. It's one thing to come in because you have a runny nose or something. But she was much more sick than that.

I'm not sure about that. I don't think so, because the boss has been gone while his wife gives birth this week. And certainly the two mid-level bosses are the sort who want you to go home if you feel crappy because they are pretty laid back people.

I think perhaps she feels like she needs to prove her toughness, on a personal level. But then, this woman I just can't figure out.

Going to work while you're sick is really awful, obviously she felt as though she had to or she wouldn't have come. Aren't you going to work sick now as well? :p

She's got the PTO, she's got leeway for illnesses given her other problems, why would she come to work anyway?

I started dosing myself up on medication and alcohol to hopefully limit the germs. Right now I'm just sneezing. But I imagine I'll get sick over the weekend and end up missing work monday! Why must I be here now?
