Today I had two babies born to mothers who were using crack while pregnant. Man. It's weird to search on the date and count how many brand new babies there were reports on. (At least six.)

But it is Friday, and one day closer to the weekend.

What exactly is your job, and how do I get one? I mean, it sounds totally stressful, but like you are in a position to really help people.

I work on the Texas Abuse Hotline. We take reports of abuse to kids, the elderly and the disabled. Any state touching the Texas border can also get through on the hotline. Texas has one centralized office that handles ll the calls and then we send them through the network to the local offices. (I'm not sure how other states do it.) So I listen to people, evaluate the situation, document and make decisions about recommending investigations. I have a friend working there, who pointed it out to be. Yay government job.

That still amazes me every time that I hear of a crack baby… when I hear that saying it makes me think of the eighties.

To bad that era still lingers…
