horses, hats and mint julips

I wish I was in Kentucky with a big hat and a string of pearls, watching the Derby. I have to settle for it on television. I love to watch the horses. My mom jumped horses as a girl, and we always watched the races. One of the few Southern traditions I truly enjoy. Ahh, if I only had a mint julip...

Some Russian princess I am.. I go outside for an hour to swim at 10am and my skin goes from my winter to fade to a nice bronze. Hah. I like that I can change colors at will.

I'm furious with my roommate. She ran a huge load of clothes on the permanent press setting, which is something I've told them not to do. It's an old machine and it needs to be coddled. Of course, the washer overbalanced, and water flooded the hall. Had to call Maintenance and get them to rip up the carpet to take out the soaked pad. *sigh* Again, I assumed someone was rational and could follow directions. Then she had the nerve to get uppity because I was not pleased. Excuse me? *sigh again* People never cease to amaze me. I could throttle her right now.

Other than that business the day has been nice. I'm going to shower the chlorine out of my hair, and find something to wear to Professor C.'s party.

oh drat. i didn't even know the derby was today. it's also cinco de mayo, and people are more used to associating that with drinking. i was going to make everyone wear hats, like you said and then make mint juleps . sigh. i missed it.
well, there is next year, by then i WILL have a croquet set :)
