Case in point: Spoiled daddy's girl is looking sublease her 3 bedroom/loft apartment at the Villas on Guadalupe.

well, this will probably yield no results, but whatev. my roommates and i are looking to lease our apt for august 2005 - august 2006. it's a 3 bedroom with a LOFT (so essentially a 4 bedroom). we live at the villas on guadalupe, a ~2 minute walk to campus. rent is $2895 (roughly $720/person), BUT NEGOTIABLE. apartment uncludes: 3 parking spaces, washer, dryer, etc.

p.s. in the event that we cannot find 4 people to rent out our apartment, we would also be willing to rent out JUST THE LOFT. seeing as how it's a loft, the rent will undoubtedly be cheaper than the other rooms, however this rent ($660) will NOT be negotiable. =/ so if you're coming to austin last minute and need a place, contact me. my e-mail is tarafuji at hotmail.com

thanks!

For those of you who don't live here and haven't had to see the ugly monstrosity they built just across from campus, here are The Villas on Guadalupe. Click on the site link to see the ugly building. Now I knew this crap would be expensive given the location, but holy Batman! Nearly three grand a month to live over Blockbuster and with the frat rats and mattresses? No thank you.

Now I know rent here isn't comparable to say, rent in NYC. But let me just say $720 a person to share an apartment is the biggest load of crap. You can find a perfectly nice one bedroom for less than that. Hell Melynda and I had a large 2 bedroom 2 bath place for about $700. I had a fabulous giant 1 bedroom for $600 a month during the dotcom boom.

our two bedroom on riverside was 620, i believe, but with riverside, you get what you pay for :)...the villa's location *is* good. but yeah, the building is yucky. dan and i saw it in person last year when we were visiting my brother... he lives on 35th or 38th, renting from a grad student that goes away in the summer...and i'm sure not paying NEARLY that much. still close, quiet neighborhood. yeah, there isn't a "fitness room"- but he goes to hyde park gym anyway :)

Those prices are insane, nice website, but way, way too expensive. That's crazy 720 for a shared apt

Geez, I guess I'm used to the lower standard of living here in Mississippi! $3000 a month is a mortgage payment on an upper class home with a jacuzzi and walk-in closets in a swanky neighborhood.

It is in Austin, too. Hell, you can rent a reasonable house out here in Silicon Valley for about that much.
