I promised my mother I would get her some ice cream on the way home last night. I also needed more gatorade, and pie making materials. when it took my 15 minutes to get a cart, I should have turned around and run away. As it was, it took me more than an hour to accomplish a normal 20 minute bit of shopping. There were people scrabbling for bottled water, no granola bars to be had, and lots of people stocking up on ridiculous things like meat and gallon jugs of cheap wine. I felt very alone, in the sea of people.

My aunt was going to come stay with us. At the last minute she headed to Crockett with her daughter and son-in-law. They drove out in the middle of the night and took the back roads. I heard on the news this morning that it is a twenty four hour drive from Galveston to Dallas. Crikey. Melynda is supposed to come up, but who knows how long it will take her?

The gas station by mom's work ran out of gas. I saw lines like mad on the way home. Traffic is horrible.

I'll be at work on Saturday. Because work goes on, everywhere across the state. We did evacuate Region 6, so that's making for some hard times. We have a backup generator at least. I have lots of cigarettes and gatorade. I don't think it will be too bad here, and we'll all be disappointed.

even if it's just bad rain, be safe! people get weird here before every little snowshower...but heck, they get weird when it's just plain raining too. marylanders do not care for weather, i've found.
