So the caller didn't know if this warranted a call to CPS or not, but the father recently had a psychotic break and is hearing voices telling him to kill and eat his two year old.

..... Can anyone tell me why this would not warrant a call to a protective agency?

By the way I've noticed that families and close friends of Seriously Dangerous Crazy People are often in deep, deep denial about it. I've seen more than one family basically say "yes, this family member is obviously going to die in a few weeks if we let her keep trying, but I just don't know... I mean what if treatment doesn't work? What if my family member gets MAD?" Dude. At least you'll have made an attempt to save a life.

And these are usually good, sane people saying such things.
