Jan. 30th, 2007 06:14 pmI have a writing exercise that needs doing, waiting there in my inbox like a sad puppy. It wants to be written. Kicking myself into getting it done is the hardest part though. But it is letter writing, which is something I truly love to do. I've been thinking today that I should chop up my winter discontent and make it into something useful. The song on the radio, the book I hadn't opened since high school, the strange dreams that wake me up in the morning, all of it should melt together into the beginning of something else entirely. I'd like to write an apocalyptic novel that is not preachy or a future action star film vehicle. I'd like to write about the end of the world but I haven't decided how.
[Poll #917365]
Tell me, livejournal land, what you're going to do when the world ends. Do you think about this? Do you worry about it? Do you laugh about it? Does apocalyptic art set you on fire or chill your heart? What would you do, what would you say? How do you imagine the world will end? Talk to me.

End of the world...as we know it
Date: 2007-01-31 05:15 am (UTC)Now, this is either:
1. Because I am a diagnosed Depressive; or
2. A psychic vision; or
3. I grew up poor with a lack of resources and this stays in my psyche and in my perception of the world.
Who knows? I hope it doesn't end in a negative way, but the end of the world as we know it could mean positive change. You know...cleansing through fire and that sort of thing.
As much as mankind is doing his/her best to destroy this earth, I think it more likely that a natural catastrophe is going to take us out. That's what's done it to several species down through the ages, and the best predictor of the future is the past.
