For some reason, I've been craving the exact items pictured in this icon. Delicious salmon roe, smooth and full of salty juice. Sweet red fish and rice, dark green seaweed... man I really want sushi. Maybe when I get paid I will go splurge on a big meal.

I have not yet tasted the pie. It looks good. I am hopeful. I have already started contemplating a blueberry pie with a nut crust (for my gluten free friends) and a lemon chiffon pie on gingersnap crust. I'm thinking almonds and walnuts for my crust of nuts. Though I definitely need to get a food processor to make sure I get them chopped into small bits. With lots of butter to bind, it should be crunchy but still crust.

In non-dessert related news I am going to make King Ranch Chicken. (Perhaps with my modified version of Lady Bird's recipe.) Mmm Southern comfort food for the win. I've decided to be ambitious and aim to make dinner at least four nights a week.

Work continues to be ridiculous, and makes my blood pressure go boom. I fantasize about just quitting my job and running away. It is a good dream. I just hate the stupidity and insanity. I need to start a work filter to deal with some of this I suppose.

I picked up a can of professional grade Lysol spray today, the kind used in hospitals. It says that it kills HIV on non-porous surfaces. Does regular consumer Lysol make this claim?

i *think* the regular lysol says it too, but i'm not sure.

i had a job so sucky that i just up and quit without anything else lined up. fortunately mathew was able to take care of the both of us without too much trouble, so i had some wiggle room. after a month or two of just plain resting, i started temping at a publishing house and eventually got hired there.

everything will fall into place for you, i'm sure of it.

I suppose I am fortunate in that I have more of a safety net than some others. I don't think I'll work up the nerve until I pay off my car though. :P

For just two people, cooking 3 nights a week is usually plenty... you can have leftovers some of the time, and if you're anything like us, you'll eat out at least once on the weekends.

I found a pierogie casserole recipe that I'm trying this weekend, while it's still dank and rainy and looking out my window can fool me into thinking it's cold out.

I suppose I should have specified one cooking night would be devoted to the arcane arts of sugars and baked goods. ;)

Pierogie casserole sounds sooooo delicious.

I had a massive craving for sushi on Wednesday, so I stopped at the mall to get some from the kiosk there - and they were OUT. ROAR. So last night, while my friend and I were out, I pretty much demanded sushi. We blew $50 on a big sushi boat and it was DELISH.

Out! That is sadness. But at least you got to splurge on the joy of the sushi boat. I am full of hungry envy. ;)

i agree with the cook 3 nights theory. unless you detest leftovers and have mastered making meals for two :)

for example this week i made:
tortilla soup
homemade mac & cheese w/ panko bread crumbs and a green salad
breakfast tacos with roasted red potatos

we had plenty of the first two things for 2 meals. today i bought some fried chicken and we had it with the mac (we had this for lunch and dinner-- we had a busy day) tomorrow we're having a party and on a normal week we'd go out or i'd change up a meal from leftover ingredients (for example there are still potatos left...)

4 meals sounds like burn out to me :)

I should have been more specific! Three nights of dinner making, and one day that hopefully involves the secret and arcane arts of baking. :)

I LOVE making breakfast tacos with roasted red potatos.

Regular Lysol also does this.

Anyway, I have a couple of recipes (one is actually a recipe, the other may be me just ranting at you for 5 minutes) for good Thai-inspired dishes, at least one of which reheats well. Though one may not help your blood pressure/cholesterol/whatever. I also have a really good chili recipe. Mmm food.

You should call me tonight then, and rant. I like ranting you know.
