I do not have any fortitude to write about the current state of affairs in American politics with any grace or charity. Just looking at it makes me want to scream "fuck you and you and you and you" all over the place. Especially when it comes to the current attacks on the freedom of women to make their own medical decisions. I can't even talk about this in any rational way at the moment. I did manage to send strongly worded letters to various congressional reps, but that exhausted my ability to be rational and calm.

I want to inflict the agony of various medical conditions on the various men I've seen in the news today. Every single one of them should be fucking ashamed of their inhumanity.

There are lots of cases when the federal government trumps freedom of religion. Do you think all of those are wrong too? Would you expect the federal government to stand down in the case of a muslim couple who wanted to follow Sharia law in their divorce? What about if it was Taco Bell, whose CEO decided women shouldn't have access to any medical coverage he didn't agree with, regardless of their own needs or beliefs, and not the Catholic church?

What about when the oral contraceptive prescription isn't for contraception at all? What about when it's a medical necessity with the side effect of also preventing pregnancy? Would you make my conservative employer cover my prescription with a doctor's note swearing to God it was medically necessary?

You support a woman's right to have access to the pill, but what about her ability to pay for it if it isn't covered by her insurance? This pill is cost prohibitive, sometimes even with insurance.

You have this opinion when it comes to birth control, but I highly doubt you'd be consistent if it were some white supremacist saying he didn't want to hire black people because his religion forbade mixing of the races. Sometimes what people believe is wrong and dangerous, and a lawmaking body has to step in for the greater good.

PS. All of your examples are specifically women's health related. What portion of your own healthcare are you prepared to sacrifice for the church?
