everything comes to an end

Well. I missed the email on Friday, so I showed up at work today. To a big empty parking lot and an empty building. I put five minutes on my time card. The day shift supervisor kindly let me sit around checking my mail and cleaning out my office.

Damn. Not that I loved my job but it paid what I need and it worked with my schedule. The uncertainty of looking for another job drives me crazy. Bah! Just stick me in another job. Don't make me wander around town looking for it!

I should be more concerned but I'm not. Ah well. I think I will go get my textbooks instead.

free time

Oh my. I can't remember the last time I didn't have a job. It must have been way back when I started college. What can I do with all this free time?

Tried to get my books this afternoon but the Co-op was insane. I've never seen it like that. I mean, yes stores get crazy right before each semester but not ever this bad. They didn't even have half the books! The books on the shelves didn't match the class listings. Then, there were only new volumes of my astronomy textbook and they were $80! It's not even a fabulous interesting book, just a basic dry intro astronomy book. Sheesh. I just walked back out. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

On the bright side, I got Girl Scout cookies outside. There was a cute young girl with two broken legs who took my money.

I think I'll live on oranges and bread for awhile. Maybe I'll go read my cookbook some more.
