I need to find some clean clothes and take my car down the street to have it's insides cleaned. Saw the sun for a few moments when I got up, though it is warmer today. I have government essays to write, Czech to practice, books to read, lots of homework. I think I will be here all weekend.
No only am I craving fruit, now I want a steak. But I can't get a Florentine beefsteak anymore. Mmm. I don't mind having carnivorous tendencies.
Oh! The Sun is back. Quick I must dress and go outside before it leaves again.

grocery shopping

Busy for a Saturday morning. The people at the auto care place were much nicer to me than the guy in the auto parts store. Silliness. But I got my oil changed, things replaced and all is hopefully well.

To make up for having to spend my time and cash on the car, I went to the HEB and bought groceries. (Professor P. tells me the Czechs love to visit the "cheb.") There is something unbelievable about a store with 5 kinds of oranges and 5 kinds of apples and all kinds of food. I shouldn't ever take that for granted. But anyways, I bought tons of fruit. The store has a special this week where if you buy a 5lb sack of red apples, you get a 4lb sack of oranges for free. Mmm. I bought lemons and strawberries too, milk, couscous, bread and peanut butter. Broke down and bought a candy bar at the checkout line. All those impulse buys really get to me. I suppose I'm very much an American consumer at heart.

I talked to Patrick last night, and he will be in town next week. It will be nice to see him, since he has been gone since November. I want to talk to him, and I'm afraid of talking. The communication is so frustrating sometimes, and I'm at a loss nowadays as to how to fix it. I'm hoping that next week will be good.

Since the sun is out and it's 77 degrees, I think I will go to the pool. I haven't gotten to swim in months. Mmm grilled pepper jack cheese sandwich, and an orange for lunch. What a lovely day.

So I went swimming, even though the water was deceptively cold. Cold where your skin becomes translucent and your bones ache, numbing crushing cold. It felt good to move in the water though, and to dry in the sun. Read about 70 pages of Truckstop Rainbows by Iva Pekarkova. I think now I will eat strawberries and drink ginger ale, watch some hockey and study. It's St Louis vs Pittsburgh, so far an exciting game.

my apartment smells like fresh bread

Miss Ang made me start thinking about food, and I happened to already be cooking. It's something I enjoy tremendously. Especially when I get to cook something exciting, or cook for friends. Tonight I just made myself a loaf of bread and a bowl of potato soup. Though I have this craving to cook elaborate pastas with shrimp, and make desserts. In 20 days I will be moving into a new apartment with a nice large kitchen. Lots of counter space, room to move around, well oraganized. It will be fun to cook there. I have a stack of recipes I want to try. Can you tell I'm trying to avoid my studies by writing here? Eesh. Away with me.
