I had my first 'real' meal today, and it felt so good to have non-liquid food. We ate outside at a little seafood restaraunt to enjoy the absolutely gorgeous sun and breeze. My shrimp and oysters thankfully required only a minimal amount of chewing.

A large grackel hopped up on the table next to us and made off with a wrapped packet of saltines. I wonder if the bird managed to get the plastic open.

When I woke up this morning, I was full of energy. We've done three loads of laundry, cleaned up the living room, vacuumed and I've started the process of thinning my bookshelves. There are a lot of tattered paperbacks that must finally be let go, and a number of books I just won't ever read again. I want to clean everything up and organize the remaining books. I have to make room for the new books I've recieved lately too!

I have a box of books in excellent condition that someone may want... )

Later on, I will type up my letter of complaint to the state board that license dentists.

After many years, I have finally discovered the name of the delicious mushrooms I sometimes encounter in Chinese restaraunts. Straw mushrooms! We found a can of them in HEB last week, and Alan is using them in his version of pho tonight. The apartment smells like cilantro, onion and beef. It's nice.

I ate everything but the crusts of my english muffin. So hungry, because I've spent the day watching Iron Chef battles on the Food Network. This weekend has been wonderful, even though I've been recovering from the dental work. Not really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, but it has been wonderful to just relax.

Cate and I traded white trash relative stories, and it was good to hear her laugh.

Oh my, I have a giant steaming bowl of Alan Pho before me. Time to eat.

I have to wonder if the five minute rip on Fox tonight was in any way motivated by the contract disputes. I know the show has gotten more caustic with age, but their slams tonight were especially harsh. That part about selling your soul when you sign a contract with Fox? Smack!

Go Pie Man!!!

Edit 7:29pm
That was quite possibly the weirdest, most random and hilarious episode ever. And it involved pie! Pie are justice!
