It's not a period drama, it's not Merchant & Ivory, it's not a historical or political film. It makes me think of all the Gen-X films about people trying to find themselves or other existential brouhaha. It's an absolutely beautiful thing to watch, interesting and harrowing in that mental sort of way. A lot has been made of not showing the death of Marie, but I think a beheading would have been gratuitous blood. It couldn't really be more grim that the shot of her standing in a poorly lit foyer, alone.

Regardless, it is definitely worth watching.

People who talk in the theater incense me. As do people who won't let you over in traffic despite turn signals.
