now there's a thought

Found via the ever useful LJ friends list. It is sort of funny. Wouldn't it be bizarre to be planting a bush in your yard and dig up one of these? I'm sort of tempted to do this just in hopes that such a thing would happen.

I realize I've made almost a half dozen posts today, but I am seriously starting to wonder if the universe is attempting to make my head explode.
I was a cynical person before I started this job, but I think it has taken my view of people to a new low. For one, it needs to be harder to get on the internet. Too much stupid. Second, we need to not accept internet reports from the general public. Because this one I'm looking at right now, it is a real peach. It's a child abuse report sent on the elder abuse form, so all the questions are wrong. Under victim information for elder abuse, we have things like "facility type" in case they are in a hospital or rehab center. Don't ask me why this reporter put "Storage Rental unit" in there. Are they keeping the baby in a storage locker? WTF?
It's a morass of unbroken text, no paragraph breaks, run-on sentences and more misspelled words than an Arkansas classroom. It's obviously a pretty serious situation that requires an immediate response. Despite the fact that the website says over and over "do not send an internet report if this is a serious/life-threatening situation that needs an immediate response" we still get these. I'm starting to wonder if anyone out there actually knows how to read.
Best part. The family lives in NEW MEXICO.
This is Texas. I realize we are right next to New Mexico. But that does not mean we are New Mexico, that we have any jurisdiction in New MExico or that I can do a good goddamned thing about something happening in NEW MEXICO!!!!
Because I'm a decent person, I'm going to clean up this mess and send it to New Mexico CPS. Gods above though.
