Thursday morning
Oct. 1st, 2009 11:19 amThe grimness of the world got to me the other night. I impulsively purchased a Squishable Bat to try and counter the gloom. He has to fly all the way from Las Vegas though, so he won't be here til next week. Meanwhile, I hug the rhino and the leopard.
I encourage you to sign and spread the word about the Art Does Not Excuse Rape: Polanski Must Face Justice petition, found here:

There's been more than 1100 signatures in the past twenty hours. I am hoping it provides something of a counterweight to the other petition with all its star studded names. There are a lot of famous people on that list that many of my friends admired, and so many of us are making secret prayers that other names we care about won't appear on that list. My biggest fear? That any of the owners/managers/organizers of the Alamo Drafthouse will jump on the Polanski defense team. That would just kill me.
Yesterday Hulu was stuttering, so we didn't get our Daily Show or Office fix. We ended up watching some Anthony Bourdain and Alton Brown, to expand our food education. I thinking about doing some baking tomorrow with my farm share duck eggs. I also need to roast my plethora of beets to create some borscht. Mmm borscht.
The newest issue of Sirena Digest has appeared in my mail. this is quite possibly the steal of the century - new fiction every month from Kiernan for ten dollars. I highly recommend subscribing. Not only are you supporting a very talented author directly, you are receiving fantastic fiction.
Soon there must be work.
