is it only wednesday?

Lately my dreams have been so linear and vivid. It's unsettling.

I'm watching reruns of American Gothic while I work. What a weird, weird little show. I wonder how many people there are with the name of Buck anyhow? I ran across it in a story last night and it reminded me of this show.

The short story collection I'm reading is suffering from the comparison to the two books I read right before it. I think maybe if I had read them in a different order this one wouldn't seem as mediocre. Yesterday I found myself wondering if I should bother to finish, which is unusual for me.

Thunder? Or the sound of a jet? I'm not sure. It's hot and humid. I find myself looking out the window often and watching the sky. Tornado season. Giant tornadoes nearly ruined my 17th birthday party. I still remember the honey thick afternoon light, tinged greenish gold and the stillness in the hours before the storms. This was back before the highway was so built up and we could see for miles northward, to the huge black cloud coming down. It makes for a surreal memory.

OH! The Drafthouse is reprising its amazing original road show. From the site:

As this is back country, we may run into some natives along the way, but just stare straight ahead and don't show them your teeth. And yes, we will be serving up a complete slow-roasted spit-fired pig!

Mike is so bummed he already scheduled his birthday grilling party for that day. Damn it. But we are going to see The Back to the Future Trilogy Feast! instead. But still, what a hell of a roadshow.
