Wow, cool pic. I saw a huge old functioning steamer in Braunschweig, Germany, chugging out of the station once. It was huge and more beastlike than a modern electrical or diesel engine, but at the same time kind of romantic. It was like being in a movie. I fell in love with europe years ago on a summer trip like the one you went on here. I've visited several times since then, improving my german and making friends along the way. Unfortunately, I havent made an opportunity to live or study there yet. I often lose sight of those dreams. But reading your journal is inspirational, because you have made a dream reality. I hope you can make livejournal updates when you get there. Where will you be living, with a host family or at a college campus?

Trains are neat things, especially the older ones. I love the sensation of movement over the rails, and the sound.

I'm staying at the dorm at the University, and hopefully one day will have my own place. It's unreal that I should be leaving in a week.
