the first incoherent thoughts

I sobbed my way through the last part of The Two Towers. When Eomer and his army comes riding down that impossible slope, I thought Melynda and I might break each other's hands.

The Ents! Gollum! Best fucking CGI ever! I hope Lucas is cringing somewhere.
The fight with the Balrog, and Shadowfax, and Mordor, and oh good gods it was amazing. Amazing. Exhausting and terrifying and so damn beautiful.

My eyes are burning.

Yes, I remember that from the books. But I think with Haldir's death, and the swarming of the castle, they made the point pretty strongly. Because it was the men who rode forth in the end, and Eomer's armies that turned the tide. (Well, excepting Legolas, Gimli and Gandalf, since they aren't human.)

But I just can't complain about any extra elf time. Heh.
