May. 1st, 2004 10:13 amThis is the sort of morning I love. It's been raining since last night, everything is cool and wet with that pearlescent quality to the light. I'm reading a fantasy novel with academics, mysterious wizards and deadly swordsmen. The Kentucky Derby preshow is on television. I'm not in much pain. The only things that could make life better would be a cherry cola slurpee and puffy cheetos. I'd like to be able to chew again.
I love the Kentucky Derby, even when it rains. They are working on the track, to try and keep it from getting too sloppy. Tarps are up all over to protect the cameras and wires. I love to watch them stretch the horses' legs and clips of previous races. Should I ever become wealthy, I'm going to have racehorses, and buy big floppy hats to wear at the races. I don't really like bourbon though, so instead of mint juleps I will drink mojitos.

Date: 2004-05-01 09:13 pm (UTC)I think this is how you make a mint julep. You crush a big sprig of mint with a spoon of sugar in a glass with a little water. Then you fill the glass with ice and pour bourbon over it. Garnish with more mint.
I have to admit I have never actually had a mint julep. But I love mojitos.
